Held on International Earth Day, the Summiteers’ Summit brought together climate scientists, policymakers, mountaineers, and the resilient people of Thame to amplify voices from Nepal’s high Himalayas. Organized by Sathsathai Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Forest and Environment, the summit spotlighted the devastating impacts of climate change—especially the Thyangbo Glacial Lake Outburst Flood—and called for urgent, inclusive action.
The event created a powerful platform for local women, youth, and community leaders to share their stories of loss, resilience, and hope. Voices from policymakers, summiteers, and media emphasized the need for climate justice, research, and sustainable rebuilding of flood-hit areas. The summit concluded with a five-point declaration urging national and international stakeholders to prioritize Himalayan communities and integrate their struggles into global climate agendas like Sagarmatha Sambaad and COP discussions.
This summit wasn’t just a dialogue—it was a call to act, to listen to the mountains, and to stand united for a just and sustainable future. 💚
